Bicycle Friendly Long Beach

The City of Long Beach wants and expects to become the most bicycle friendly urban city in the United States. They plan to do that by creating safe, connected, and easy to navigate bike routes, offering bike friendly public facilities, transit, and shops, promoting bike share opportunities throughout the city, encouraging the community, through education, to create a culture where cyclists and motorists interact safely, and implementing fun and healthy bicycle programs.

Long Beach Bicycle Master Plan
The sections of the City of Long Beach Master Bicycle Plan are Introduction, Goals and Objectives, Existing Conditions, Needs Analysis, Recommended Improvements, Implementation, Design and Maintenance, and Appendices. Included in the Recommended Improvements section are Creating a Bikeway System, Bikeway Signing program, Bicycle Parking, and Bicycle Safety Education.

Long Beach Bike Station
Centrally located 24 hour secure, indoor bicycle parking station and bicycle services facility. Located on the First Street Transit Mall, at 221 East First Street, at Promenade Park. The facility is near Long Beach light rail, bus stations, and other public transportation. Bike Station Long Beach opened at its current location in September of 2011. The cost of parking your bike is $1 per day, or $12 per month, or $96 per year, plus a $20 administrative fee per year.
